What is the best diet for fat burning? A loaded question, to be sure. I don’t think there is one right answer. I think Mike Whitfield would agree. Mike discusses his nutrition approach in a very funny post called What Diet is Mikey On?
SO, WHAT IS MIKEY’S DIET?
Mike can answer this (in his own unique way). Here are some excerpts:
“Here’s the truth – I get bored with using a specific diet. I find myself having to “change it up” as much as my workouts (that’s a whole new discussion – I change my program every 4 weeks).”
Pretty interesting. Mike actually changes his nutrition plan regularly, like changing up your workout strategy. I can’t remember hearing anyone else approaching nutrition like this.
“One approach that I don’t get away from week after week is intermittent fasting. I’ll be honest with you and trust me when I say I’m a little shy of admitting this – I scoffed at the idea of fasting. I thought it was ridiculous and was a fad.”
Now, I have read a great deal about intermittent fasting. Mike thought it might be a fad. For me, it is a little different. The thought of not eating for 24 hours scares the crap out me. I can’t imagine what I would consume at hour 24 plus 1 minute!
“If you love fruit, and try to go low-carb, you’re going to fail. So my advice to you is this – try anything that might fit your lifestyle for 2 weeks. If you find that it doesn’t match you and your personality, skip it. Move on to the next approach.
Society tells us that we shouldn’t do that and that we have to stick to it even if it makes us miserable. So, tell Society, “Bite me” and do what works for you. Don’t be afraid to try different approaches.
That’s part of the journey – finding the “perfect diet” for you.”
This makes way too much sense to ignore, even the “bite me” part. It’s true. There is no one perfect best diet for fat burning.
WHAT HAVE I LEARNED?
A couple of things. I need to add some variety to my nutrition plan. Practically all of my knowledge about adhering to a healthy food guide comes from Isabel des los Rios’s Diet Solution Plan and Dave Ruel’s Anabolic Cooking and Metabolic Cooking. Don’t get me wrong. These are terrific products that have helped me a lot, and I highly recommend them. But there are so many other nutrition options available. Why not have a look and change things up a little, like Mike says. Keep it fun and interesting.
Also, the time has come to give intermittent fasting a try. Mike recommends products by Joel Marion and Brad Pillon. I’m not going to promote or recommend either, because I haven’t looked at them. I’ll have to buy one (or both). God help me, I am such a sucker for this stuff. Anyway, Mike has supplied links on his post if you are so inclined to take a peek. What Diet Is Mikey On?
I can, however, recommend Mike’s workout product called 33 Ab Finishers. I bought it, and I use it. You can check out my thoughts about this program here. Get Your Metabolic Increase With Ab Finishers.
